That’s why we’ve launched an exciting new programme to help at-risk young people in Middlesbrough unlock their potential, develop vital digital skills, and pursue careers in the fast-growing world of social media and entrepreneurship.
Why Middlesbrough?
Middlesbrough is a vibrant community with untapped potential, but it also faces significant challenges. Ranked as one of the most deprived areas in the UK, many young people here struggle with barriers to education and employment. These challenges can leave them vulnerable to falling out of education and into crime, limiting their future opportunities.
We’re here to change that.
Our new initiative is designed to bridge the gap, providing young people with the tools, skills, and confidence they need to thrive in the digital economy.
Our Programme: Influencer Academy
Our six-week pilot programme is designed to engage and inspire young people, giving them practical skills and real-world experience in digital media.
Key Features of the Programme
- Entrepreneurship Training: From monetising social media to building a personal brand, we’re empowering young people to turn their creativity into a career.
- Digital Content Creation: Participants will learn the art of photography, video editing, and social media branding, using tools and equipment readily available to them.
- Online Safety & Critical Thinking: We’re teaching young people how to stay safe online and navigate the challenges of digital spaces, including combatting fake news.
Led by Christopher Henderson, Managing Director of UK Top Influencer, the programme also incorporates teamwork, communication skills, and creative projects to boost confidence and foster individuality.

Building a Brighter Future for the North East
Our commitment to the North East goes beyond this programme. Through our annual UK Top Influencer Awards, we celebrate the achievements of influencers across the UK and proudly host the event in the North East. These awards provide work experience opportunities for young people who may not usually have the chance to contribute to high-profile events.
