About the Academy
The Youth Influencer Academy is an innovative program designed to equip young people (ages 11–18) with the skills, confidence, and tools to thrive in the digital age. Based in Middlesbrough, our mission is to provide opportunities for young people from underserved communities to explore a viable career path in social media influencing while developing transferable life skills.
With the rise of social media as a powerful platform for connection, branding, and storytelling, becoming an influencer is no longer just a dream—it’s a real career option. Our academy combines technical training, creativity, and entrepreneurial guidance to help young people realize their potential.
What We Plan to Do
The Youth Influencer Academy aims to provide an engaging, inclusive, and hands-on learning experience. During our six-week pilot program, we plan to:
- Teach Practical Skills: Sessions will cover content creation techniques, including photography, vlogging, green screen effects, voiceovers, and editing.
- Help Build Personal Brands: Young people will identify their niche, target audience, and develop a consistent brand identity that reflects their passions and values.
- Focus on Online Safety: We will provide essential guidance on staying safe on social media, managing negative interactions, and avoiding misinformation.
- Introduce Entrepreneurship: Participants will explore how to collaborate with brands, monetize their content, and create authentic partnerships.
In addition to individual growth, we aim to encourage teamwork and communication through collaborative creative activities, such as team-based content creation challenges and interviews with special guests.
Why Social Media Influencing?
Social media influencing is more than just posting online—it’s about storytelling, community building, and creativity. With 77.9% of the UK population using social media, influencing has become a viable career path that allows individuals to connect with audiences in meaningful ways. Through the Academy, we hope to empower young people to use social media not only as a career opportunity but also as a platform for positive change.
